Welcome to one of the best small water premier carp fishing lakes in France….
The five-acre clay / silt bed lake features around 200 carp, some in the 50+ range, we are especially known for our big English looking Common Carp. (See our gallery)
The lake is stream and spring fed and has a constant flow of fresh water entering the lake, because of this it is constantly being renewed and aerated resulting in amazing water quality and a great environment for fish growth. The depths vary from 12ft down to 3ft. We have two great features on the lake, the first being the stone walled island with a beautiful and very old maple tree in the middle of the lake and the second being an 18th century boathouse overlooking the lake.
When we took control of the lake back in 2013 we put in place a major lake management programme, included in this is a lake drain down and netting every few years to remove any unwanted or silver fish, this work along with a very strict feeding programme is very important in keeping our bio mass right for optical growth gains. As a result of this we can now say that we are seeing more and more carp from mid to high 40 pounds being landed with some now into the 50+ range at present but we will say that the lake has not reached it’s full potential by any means so the future looks very promising indeed.
Carp Stocking Programme
We only stock more carp when we think it’s absolutely necessary to do so, we stock new fish into the lake to keep the fish competing for food thus making them easier to catch. There is a fine line between a hard water and a carp runs water but we will always try to achieve a happy medium between the two. We have already carried out stockings in 2015, 2017 and will make further stockings in the coming years when needed which will keep Etang des Landes one of the best small water carp fishing lakes in France.
We have seven purpose built swims which all have good access to the waters edge making it easy to land fish. There are three car park spaces around the lake making it easier getting your gear to your chosen swim.
